Structural Communication Platform for Home builders, Retailers and Real Estate
Challenges:
The home building and real estate industry while enjoying a high growth
situation overall is going through technology adoption challenges as it
struggles to adopt new technologies while still dealing with years of inertia
as a low-tech industry. There are specialized solutions focusing on specific
business problems and niche users and while that suits the respective vendors,
no concerted effort has been made to break old moulds and release the potential
of mass 3D building models in a technology-agnostic way and use them to drive a
business supply chain comprising builders, vendors and consumers. Users across
the board have to deal with data silos, redundancy of paper and electronic
files and incompatible systems that encourage data and effort duplication.
Solution:
3D XML Structural Profiling (US patent)
NewerHome Technology, partnering with GrapeCity has developed a U.S. patented
process that exposes all intricate details of a building to consumers over a
computer network for searching, communicating, modifying, visualizing, and
costing. The CAD-independent engine can draw upon existing CAD files
(CAD-neutral detailing), site measured data (for as-built structures), or via a
user-friendly online tool for quickly drawing or tracing any part of your home
or renovation plan (DIY).

A Structural Profile is a component by component break down of any structural or
non-structural elements within a 2D CAD plan that can be measured, quantified,
examined and inferred. Structural Profiling as a Web service facilitates a
perpetual dialogue with all the component parts which make up a structure, from
foundation to roof, and everything in-between, as illustrated below.

Benefits:
-
Full integration with CAD preserves existing investment and yet leverages the
benefits of open XML standards.
-
The XML format ensures easy integration with third-party applications and
offers flexibility of rendering (2D/3D/static/interactive).
-
Applications are inherently construction-intelligent and driven by a
centralized building database that encourages modifications, communications and
e-commerce.
-
The building mdel becomes the foundation for anonymous, personalized catalog
services that are cross-vendor, searcheable, shareable and consumer driven.
-
By combining the structural profiling service with the cataloging service,
consumers and vendors can collaborate to create new, symbiotic models.
