Add a RangeSelector to FlexChart for Cloud Business Apps

As we continue to develop our LightSwitch Edition, we'll be shifting to more of a focus on Cloud Business Apps (as described in the July 29's preview). Here's a look at one of our new CBA controls: FlexChart for LightSwitch, an SVG-based, Wijmo-powered chart control with a simple API and powerful features. Display labels, markers, headers, and footers within the charts, and show data across multiple axes. You can even mix chart types to fully interpret your data. As always, you can use it out of the box or customize to your users’ needs. In addition to the full scope of basic chart features—trend lines, multiple axes, styling, legends, labels, headers, footers, and more—you have access to a wide variety of chart types, including:

  • Bar/Column Charts
  • Line/Area/Spline Charts
  • Scatter Charts
  • Bubble Charts
  • Candlestick Charts
  • Stacked Charts

RangeSelectors have become one of our most popular chart features, and here's a quick explanation of how to implement it on your chart.

  1. In the designer, select the FlexChart to open the Properties window.
  2. In the Properties window, expand the Advanced tab node.
  3. Click on the '+' symbol corresponding to Range Selectors (0 Items) collection editor. An Item[0] is added under Range Selectors dropdown. Check the Is Visible checkbox and select X from the Orientation dropdown.

  1. Press F5 to run the project.

Presto! Your user can further define the values she'll see in the chart. FlexChart for LightSwitch: RangeSelector FlexChart for LightSwitch: RangeSelector View FlexChart for LightSwitch Cloud Business Apps Documentation >> Read more from Michael Washington's LightSwitch Help Website!
