ComponentOne Announces Beta of Xuni -- Native, Cross Platform Mobile Controls to Complement Xamarin

PITTSBURGH, PA – October 8, 2014 – ComponentOne a division of GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner Ecosystem has announced today at the Xamarin Evolve 2014 Conference in Atlanta, GA a new Beta product named Xuni. Xuni is ComponentOne's collection of cross-platform UI controls for iOS, Android and Windows Phone. "We designed Xuni to provide native experiences in iOS, Android and Windows Phone using the same API across all platforms," said Greg Lutz, product manager of Xuni. "Our strategy of unifying Xuni at the native level allows us to deliver the exact same, full-featured API across all devices, thus allowing C# developers to get the most out of code reuse in Xamarin.Forms." Xamarin.Forms, a product in Xamarin's platform for mobile development, allows developers to build native user interfaces for iOS, Android and Windows Phone using 100% shared C#. Xamarin.Forms includes controls and layouts, which are mapped to native controls at run time. "ComponentOne Xuni will not only work in native IDE's like Eclipse, Android Studio and Xcode, but you can also use Xuni in Microsoft Visual Studio with complete Xamarin integration," said Lutz. "ComponentOne Xuni is a fantastic addition to the Xamarin.Forms Ecosystem," said Joseph Hill, co-Founder of Xamarin. Xamarin is cross-platform software which simplifies mobile development by allowing users to develop once in C# and output to all mobile devices. "With Xuni you get the kind of powerful controls for building enterprise-level apps that our developers are eager to take advantage of," said Hill. The Xuni Beta page www.componentone.com/xuni provides insight into the first wave of what Xuni will offer and it includes data visualization with charts i.e. financial and pie along with an array of gauges. The company's full release will include dashboard support, animation, markers, and full touch support. Lutz shared that the ComponentOne development team is working to shortly debut the company's signature data grid control, FlexGrid as part of the offering in Xuni. "With FlexGrid developers can create both bound and unbound grids, merge cells, and more with many other features unique to FlexGrid," said Lutz. Xuni is expected to fully release in the latter part of 2014. Currently, ComponentOne is offering early access to developers that signup for the Beta program at http://www.componentone.com/xuni.
