How to Upgrade Your LightSwitch Extensions

If you are upgrading your current ComponentOne LightSwitch extension to 2012 v1, there are some changes you should be aware of. They now use an installation program and they require a serial number (without a serial number, you will see a trial notification). Find the most up-to-date extensions here

How to Get Your Serial Number

When you first purchased your LightSwitch extension, the confirmation email contained a serial number. That is the key you will need. If you do not have that email, you can still retrieve your serial number.

  • Your ComponentOne Account: If you are the original purchaser or you have registered your product on componentone.com, your serial number will be listed in your account. Go to http://www.componentone.com/myaccount to log in and retrieve your key.
  • Contact ComponentOne: If the above methods don’t work, please contact us.

Upgrade Notes

  • In order to use more than one ComponentOne LightSwitch extension in your project, all the extensions must be the same version. For example, in the 2012 v1 release, all extensions have the version number 1.0.20121.11. The best practice is to install matching versions of all the extensions you use, even if you are only interested in updating a specific extension, and even if they are in trial mode (unlicensed).
  • If you use Studio for Silverlight, ensure that it is the same version used by the extensions themselves. For example, in the 2012 v1 release, all extensions use Studio for Silverlight version 4.0.20121.237. This information is available in the release notes for the LightSwitch extensions.
  • As of the 2012 v1 release, the ComponentOne LightSwitch extensions support licensing. If you have screens that use older versions of the extensions, you will need to modify them after activating your license. To do this, open each screen in the LightSwitch designer, then select the ComponentOne control(s) in the layout tree, and then save the screen. This will prevent the evaluation popup from being displayed at runtime.
