Recap: Philly .NET Code Camp 2010.2

This was my first trip to Philly Code Camp. The event's reputation preceded itself, and did not disappoint. Andy, Bill, et al put together a well run code camp that has many examples of doing things right (475 lunches served in 25 minutes, if that's any indication). The beautiful DeVry University facility was the sixth man (basketball sense, not Star Trek away team sense) in making this event so smooth.

Steve Basl presented his Silverlight 101 talk, which seemed to be received well by the attendees. True to the form of an in-person demo, Steve's laptop has only HDMI outputs and the projectors are VGA only. Doh! Fortunately, we weren't speaking at the same time, so after a quick switch of laptops, he was in business.

I spoke on BI Reporting in Microsoft Azure. We had a great discussion of Azure, but got waaayyyy off topic for part of the time. Without network access, my demos didn't quite come together as I wanted them too. Not a big deal, I'll clean up the code so everyone can run it on the local dev fabric and post the sample soon.

Here's a sampling of what went on-we look forward to being part of the next Philly Code Camp in April, 2011!

Here's Steve, in full "booth babe" mode. The sunglasses were a hit again-we went out with a huge box, but came back with only a small bag of leftovers.

Dane Morgridge, recording the Community Megaphone Podcast, with (I think) John V. Petersen. Andy Schwam, one of the organizers, is in the background folding t-shirts.

Lunchtime! 475 attendees served in 25 minutes. DeVry University has a nice cafeteria, and the weather was beautiful so many people enjoyed the outdoor patio, too.

Lindsay (Rutter) Lindstrom stopped by during one of the breaks. Lindsay is the awesome Academic Evangelist for the Mid-Atlantic region. If you're a student or faculty, she is the person to know at Microsoft. Lindsay loves Windows Phone!

Finally, congrats to Harrison Knox, winner of a ComponentOne studio of his choice!
