Replace legacy processes with mobile apps for better efficiency

The enterprise sector is in a state of flux, where adopting trends can make the difference between success or ultimate destruction. This has largely come about because of the influence of mobile devices in our daily activities. As more consumers use this hardware for their personal tasks, it shouldn't be a surprise that they'd want to leverage it in their workplaces as well. They believe that it will give them the same efficiency and help them to simplify their operations. However, if the employer is providing legacy software, it will be challenging to leverage mobile equipment effectively. For this reason, organizations must ensure that their programs meet user preferences and are up-to-date with current standards.

User expectations becoming more demanding
While an organization may have been a leading player, if it does not keep up with employee needs, it can quickly crumble. People are not using the same devices they did as recently as five years ago, and businesses must be able to adapt to this rapid evolution. However, according to SmartData Collective contributor Kyle Cebull, some companies still handle numerous processes without technology at all. This type of environment may include paper spreadsheets that can easily be lost, damaged and lead to redundancies or errors in the system. If something like financial information is left solely to this tracking method, it's likely that decision-makers are missing out on critical benefits and may even be hurting their business by overpaying for services.

Because legacy systems are still being leveraged by enterprises, this can cause significant frustration for the employees that must use them. If staff members regularly run into problems with a program, they will turn to their own preferred applications to get the job done. Although they trust this software and understand how to effectively utilize it, the security provisions in these apps are often not enough to protect business information. To circumvent shadow IT and give users the tools they need, organizations must seek out app developers to create successful software.

"Being the most innovative company requires constant forethought and research. It requires the help of a well-versed IT partner and their resources to help you grow," Cebull wrote. "If you are struggling to remain ahead of the curve when it comes to company technology, gain on your competitors by implementing a strategic technology plan."

App builders help meet employee requirements
With mobile devices becoming a more common sight across the business landscape, decision-makers have sought to hire mobile developers to build an enterprise-grade program that will suit everyone's needs. This includes being able to address the type of device or operating system that an employee may choose. According to a recent report by VisionMobile, most programmers are targeting 1.75 platforms, with Apple iOS and Google Android remaining the top favorites. While Android claimed 70 percent of developer utilization, iOS wasn't far behind with 55 percent. However, despite these majorities, there is still other hardware that must be accounted for if users should bring them.

There are a significant amount of developers that specifically target consumers, while only 11 percent create for professionals. This means that the enterprise space is still largely untapped despite its increasing mobile development needs. If app programmers are looking for an audience to improve their revenue, the business space is a growing audience that is becoming more dependent on mobile devices and apps for their operations. To cater to a large number of users, developers will need to leverage HTML5 form - in fact, 42 percent already have, according to the report. HTML5 will provide a cross-platform functionality that other coding languages cannot, enabling programmers to easily deploy patches and ensure that any emerging technology is supported.
