Is it possible to have two separate reports with the same name in ActiveReports?

The two reports would be in different Categories, but with the same name.

    More info:

    • "

    • “we are researching AR for a multi-tenant environment.”

    • “each client would have their own Category of reports (Client1, Client2, Client3).”

    • “we would restrict access for each client to their own Category.”

    "

Is this possible in AR? Is there a concept of “Folders” in AR instead of “Categories”?

    Hello,

Is it possible to have two separate reports with the same name in ActiveReports?

Yes, it possible to have two separate reports with the same name in ActiveReports. However, reports should be created by different users and they don’t have permissions to see each other report.

Is this possible in AR? Is there a concept of “Folders” in AR instead of “Categories”?

Above all requirement is supported by ARS. However, Could you please explain about the “Folder” requirement? Actually, ARS have categories system and you can distribute the report into different categories. Do you want to save report into a different physical location in ARS data folder when created by a different user? If yes, it is not possible in ARS. All data is stored in “Storage.edb” file.

    Hope it help.

    Thanks,

Thanks for the info, that helps. So we would need to first create a user for each of our multi-tenant clients, and then add the reports under a specific Category for each client.

You have me wondering now about the storage.edb file… Are there any docs on that file? For example, what format is that file? And is there any way to store reports in a different container like a SQL Server database?

    Hello,

So we would need to first create a user for each of our multi-tenant clients,

Yes. Or you can link ARS with your existing user through ActiveDirectory. Please refer to the following link for more detail:

Are there any docs on that file? For example, what format is that file?

Actually, “Storage.edb” stores all data of the server like “DataSet”, “DataSource”, “Models”, “Reports” etc. You can access the report from anywhere in the world through ARS. You can refer to the following link to know more about ARS:

And is there any way to store reports in a different container like a SQL Server database?

Yes, You need to use “Rest API” to fetch the report server and save it to SQL Server database. For more information on RestAPI, Please refer the following link:

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks,
