Portraint Report and Portraint / Landscape Subreport

    Hi friends,

I am having requirement to divide my report in three individual reports. Two of those has to be in landscape mode. All of those individually works fine. But if I integrate them onto one, they all print in the portrait mode ( I think they are following the main report's page settings) (<font color="#800080">Note: I have not added any lists at this moment. What 'Other Issue' section describes, happened after adding each report in the individual list control. Please continue reading, reading this post twice might help</font>)

Here is my summary of 'integration' after I reached at the point where I was getting the results as expected for each individual report :

      Created a brand new report,

added 3 sub-report controls in 3 individual list controls (<i>Reason for putting the sub-report controls in a list control : this report is a summary report and is going to be three page long in any case, so I needed to have page breaks after each report and I wanted each to get wrapped in 1 page, so I <font color="#0000FF">checked 'Insert a page break after the list'</font>  and '<font color="#0000FF">Fit list on a single page of possible'</font></i>)

Next, bounded the all 3 sub-report controls to the respective reports ('Name' & 'Subreport') properties of the General tab.

      <span><font color="#0000FF"><i><font color="#000000">Here I </font>checked the box saying 'Use this report's theme when rendering sub-report'</i></font></span>

Initialized the parameters for the reports

    Other Issue:

If I keep the main report's page mode to portrait, it goes to the infinite pages... and <font color="#FF0000">if</font> <font color="#FF0000">I set it to LandScape - it prints each Sub-Report FOUR TIMES back to back and breaks the page after each Sub-Report</font>. (but not after last report - FYI) ( that also prints the fist sub-report in landscape mode - I'd rather prefer to have it in the portrait mode.

    Please note that:

<font color="#006400">If I remove the list and just keep three sub-report controls print the report it prints fine. This is solely to get some pages of the report portrait and rest as landscape.</font>

<font color="#006400">Version 1.6.2260.3. I have not installed any other internal builds / patches.
      </font>

    Hello,

Yes, you are right the subreports in the Main report would print in the same paper orientation mode i.e set for the Main report. There is not a way to print some subreports in landscape while others in the portrait mode in the main report.

Secondly, the issues that you are referring to when the PaperOrientation of the main report is changed i.e printing infinite pages or printing subreports multiple times was not replicated at my end. I have attached the sample reports, please place the attached database in C drive of your system to view the reports. I would request you to modify the same to depict your issue. Hope it will help you. Please let me know if you have any queries further.

    Thanks,
    Manpreet Kaur

I had compromised to have all the reports in landscape mode as data dynamics is not capable doing so.

Designer does okay. The web report just messes up.<font color="#FFA500"> <u><b>I observed that though the landscape in the page setup is being selected by default ; the report always renders in the portrait mode.</b></u></font> I am using PDF viewer mode.

    <u>Details:</u>

<u><font color="#FF0000"><span>If I use HTML viewer the report gets rendered as expected. But if I export it to  PDF/DOC it gets exported in portrait - all the times, Crap !</span></font></u>

But we have to render our all reports in PDF due other limitations of Data Dynamics - all the time.

This issue causes the report to have alternative blank pages ! Any workaround to overcome such flimsiness of Data Dynamics's rendering/export engine ?

    Hello,

I have entered issue number 166821 for the issue related to report being rendered in portrait mode when using the PDF viewer mode and on exporting to PDF or Word. I have added your email id to the list of the affected users, you would be notified as soon as the issue is fixed.

However, I was still not able to reproduce the issue related to the printing of blank alternative pages. I would request you to provide me with a sample application depicting your issue so that I can replicate the same at my end and debug it further.

    Thanks,
    Manpreet Kaur

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Since this was in the Archives forum, it got missed.
The issue 166821 was reported for DataDynamicsReport, which has been a legacy product for quite long now. Moreover, it was fixed in the last released build of DDR.
Are you facing this issue with DDR or with a newer version of ActiveReports? If you're facing the issue with a new version of ActiveReports i.e v11 or v12, kindly post your issue on our active Forum, which is monitored daily and you would get a prompt reply - https://www.grapecity.com/en/forums/ar-dev
