Saving page size if there is no data instead having a blank space

    Hi friends,
I am having a report which in turn, contains several sub-reports.
Everything works fine but I do not wish to see white space in the case if I do not have the data for that sub-report (FYI - the sub-report has just a table).

The report would look decent, elegant & it would be great if we can do this with DD, I know there are reasons that it is the best reporting tool at enterprise level :-)

I would like you to know what you are observing is an intended behavior, the subreports shows blank white space if there is no data for the subreport, as it occupies the space that has been assigned to it at design time. To avoid having such white space if there is no data to be shown, I would suggest you to set the height of the subreport to 0.01in, this way it would automatically grow, if there is some data to be shown in the report and if there is no data it would not at all grow and hence would not show any white space on the report.

Hope it will help you. Please let me know if you have any queries further.

I was trying to set the height of the sub-report to 0.01 inch to serve my purpose, but I could not find it, so I am sending you the screen shots of the property side bar as well as property pop-up window, I'd appreciate it if you can highlight it for me. (SubReportProperties.PNG & SubReportProperties - 2.PNG)

I tried to use a sub report directly on the report, and I could see that but I am using it from within a table (as a table row, specifically)

I tried to set the height first and then moved it as the table row, that worked, but I observed overlapping with that.(Overlapping.png) (Can we use "Can Grow" with that ?)

    Much appreciated...

Yes, you are right when you place the Subreport into a table row, it does not shows to have a height property as now it is a part of a table and its height is set according to the height of the TableRow. Moreover neither the TableRow nor the SubReport have a CanGrow property that you could set to avoid the overlapping as the subreport automatically grows to accommodate the data in it.

So, I do not find a reason why they are overlapping, so I would suggest you to test the issue with the latest version of Data Dynamics Reports i.e.v 1.6.2260.3, which you can download from the following link:

However, if you still face the same issue, I would request you to provide me with your rdlx file and some sample data, so that I can replicate the issue at my end and debug it further.
