    Hi Data Dynamics support,

           I am using the SpreadBuilder class to export report in excel.Now my requirement is to shift number of records to next sheet if it exits the Ms-Excel 2007 limit of rows in a sheet(i.e 10,48,576 ).Now I put a Row Counter to check if it is beyond 10,48,576 then it will shift rest of the records to next sheet and so on.But it is giving a run-time error if Row Counter goes beyond 65,536. It means if I reduce the value from  10,48,576 to 65,536 to trigger a sheet change then it works fine.

    <b>[Error Message:-The specified iColumn argument is either less than zero or greater than the maximum number of columns that the Excel file format supports.
    Parameter name: iRow]
    </b>
    My Question is "Does SpreadBuilder class internally uses the Ms-97-2003 standard to generate excel?"

    Thanks,
    Abhijit Bose

    Hello,

    I believe you are using ActiveReports and not DataDynamics Reports. The correct forum to discuss this issue would be here.However, I would like to inform that <span id="BugEvents">currently one excel sheet generated from ActiveReports Excel Export can contain only 65,536 rows;but we have Case 127113 to increase the same.

    Prantik
    </span>

    Hi,

    I am using   <b>DataDynamics.SpreadBuilder.Workbook sb = new DataDynamics.SpreadBuilder.Workbook();</b> to create a workbook and this is how the situation comes.Is "<b>SpreadBuilder</b>" API is any how related to Active Reports?

    Thanks,

    Hello,

    I apologize if I may have confused you. The Case 127113 is open for ActiveReports .Currently with ActiveReports, you may add multiple sheets in the Workbook created by the SpreadBuilder API to show a larger number of rows in the output xls. For formatting different cells of the SpreadBuilder workbook object please take a look at this link. For further questions, please post in this forum.

    ActiveReports and DataDynamics Reports are two different reporting engines. Let me point out the key differences between the two.

    1) In DataDynamics Reports,the reports may pull data from more than one Datasources, whereas ActiveReports can connect to only one DataSource.

    2) In DataDynamics Reports, each report can contain one or more than one independent  DataRegions. So, you could have a Table binding to data from your SQL DataSource and another Table binding to an .mdb lying side by side in the report.This kind of report design may not be easily created using ActiveReports.

    3) The options to export an report using DataDynamics Reports is also larger than with ActiveReports. In addition to the export formats that ActiveReports offers, you can export the report to XML, Image, Word and Email formats with DataDynamics Reports.

    For further information on the product, please visit this link.

    Prantik,

    I followed the link you provided... I found I can only apply 'font' (I hope I'm NOT missing anything)... I visited your product page links as well... I cannot find details about Excel export (especially related to data types plus other options that I mentioned in the attachment from my last post)... Is it possible someone from your end give me more specific information... I'm under great trouble with the export otherwise.

    Also, is it possible to share the details about the case #127113... I'm interested to know what exactly is getting addressed and an ETA if possible... This will help me plan my development... I hope I'm not asking too much.

    Thanks again for paying attention to this matter.

    Regards,

    Anup

    Hello,

    The product that you are using is ActiveReports and the correct forum to discuss issues regarding the same is this. We already have <span id="BugEvents">Case 127113 to address the issue that you have raised. Currently you can workaround this by adding multiple sheets to the workbook to export data when the number of rows exceeds </span>65,536.

    Hello Prantik,

    First of all like to thank you for taking your time to answer our questions.

    I'm kind of in a similar situation... Are you saying switching to DataDynamics could solve this problem?

    I'm also having trouble with setting excel column format... Ideally, I would like to give my user the flexibilities that tools like QuickBook offers with its excel export... I have attached a screenshot from QB for your reference.

    Any insights that you could provide (in terms of what is supported by ActiveReports vs DataDynamics, etc) could prove very helpful for me.

    That's everything for now... Please feel free to get back to me with questions.

    Thanks,

    Anup
