    Hi All

We have a VB6 application that uses AR2, everything was working perfectly until the latest Windows 10 update over the weekend. Today I cannot open any VB6 project that uses AR2, I get this error in the logs.

Line 2: Class {9EB8768B-CDFA-44DF-8F3E-857A8405E1DB} of control rptCustomerDoc was not a loaded control class.

I can also no longer add an AR2 report to any VB6 application, I get an error "Component not registered". I have uninstalled AR2 and reinstalled but nothing seems to work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

As per the following documentation, AR2 do not supports Win10:
So, even though if it was supporting earlier it might/might not work now. Therefore, it is suggested for you to upgrade to the latest ActiveReports version 12. ActiveReports12 contains many new features, you may have a look at them here:

I too have exactly the same problem with VB6 using ActiveReports v2.

I would happily upgrade to resolve the issue, however according to your documentation ActiveReports v12 does not list VB6 as a compatible product.

Will you be investigating this issue to provide help, or can you suggest an older version (but pre v12) that I can upgrade to which is supported by VB6 and is compatible with the latest Windows 10?

    Fixed (for now)

The last version that supported vb6 is AR2, whereas ActiveReports started supporting Win10 from version AR10.
Following are the download links for ActiveReports2:
    AR2 [Pro] (v2.5.0.1322):
    AR2 [Std] (v2.5.0.1322):

I can solve the problem successfully. Uninstall Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB4054517).

I updated to the latest Win OS 10 64 bit version 1709 Build 10.0.16299.125. After it restored, Win OS is also to the same version but Build 10.0.16299.15. It will make ActiveReports 2 work normally.

    Update: 18-12-2017

I don't suppose anyone knows where to get a copy of the license.exe that comes with AR2 Standard? I'm needing to re-license AR2 in a new Windows 7 environment and I no longer have the installation media.

AR2 had declared as a legacy product a long time ago and it is out of development mode. Hence, we don't provide the support for AR2. However, we have many customers for whom issue has resolved after uninstalling the 'KB4048955' update. If issue does not resolve after uninstalling the above update, we recommend you to update to our latest release(AR12) as no fixing will be done in AR2.

You can refer to the following link for the new features and enhancements:

You could use the trial version AR12 which can be downloaded from the following link:

The best way is to reinstall the Windows 10 , then you can try launching the AR2 on your computer ,And in general, this is an effective way to do it,by the way , before reinstalling your Windows , you need to remove any login password and backup some files that you need ,

THANK YOU to dave_heyer. This solves the problem with AR1, VB6, and Windows 10 Fall Update.

To be precise, find the file VB6.exe
on my PC it is in
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98
Right-Click on it and select Properties > Compatibility. Untick the box.
