Detail_Format Issue

In a version update to our product, we have an active report made up of four parts. Our main report which calls three other subreports. In the first of these detail_format gets called twice, and this leads to unexpected results in the output.

I tried putting the detail_format code in another event, like the report_start function and even though this was only called once the same output was given.

This report was created in in a previous version and we took the files and copied them into the new product with no modifications. In the first it works fine, but in the new one it is wrong.

Can anyone help me, with an idea on what to do or where to go from here. The best I can think of is to scrap the report and start over on it.

    Thanks, David

It sounds like the data source that's attached to the report is returning more than one row. If there is no data source, then the detail section would only return more than one row if the FetchData EOF event argument is returned with false the first time FetchData was fired.

Yes, that is what we suspect but the same sql on the same database in the previous version does not do this, the only difference is that it is a different vb project.

Also, we bundle these reports and if we add one of these erroneous ones to a bundle, detail_format will gets called over and over infinitely.

Thank you very much for your help we really need it

Do you have a backup copy of your report(s) that are causing these issues? Or maybe even the new VB project?

I had an issue once were the DSR file somehow got corrupted. It appeared to be normal, but did some pretty weird things, I finally got frustrated enough that I pulled a backup and was going to start over with my changes. As soon as the backup was in place, all return to normal operation.

It is something to look into at least as a possible problem.

Yes we have tried from backups, even removing it from source safe and the vb project, and reviving them from backups and it is still the same.

    Thanks,
