Dotted lines turning into solid lines on PDF export

    Hi guys,

We have a tool that we use to generate charts in our application (ComponentOne Chart 2D). These are stored as Picture objects, which we then put into an Image control on an ActiveReport.

The chart includes some dotted lines on it. We find that the report prints fine to a normal printer, and prints fine to a PDF printer, but when we use the ActiveReports PDF export (i.e. using pdfexpt.dll), the dotted lines all become solid.

Is this an issue you are aware of, and if so, is there any workaround that you know about?

    Thanks in advance,

    Gavin Schultz

    Apologies Amit,

It seems that when you preview a post the attachment is lost.

    Before.png attached now.

    Thanks,

    Gavin,

How is the output, when you export the report to some other format viz html or rtf? Also, would it be possible for you to send us the RDF and RPX of the report so that we can test it at our end.

    Regards,

    Prantik

    Prantik,

We are unable to export the report to .html or .rtf formats. So can't help you there. However printing the report (to a printer) or when using any 3rd party PDF printer seems to preserve the dotted lines.

This leads me to believe that the problem does indeed lie with the pdfexpt.dll

Unfortunately I am unable to send the .rpx files.

I presume this problem has never been reported before? Or there are no known workarounds?

    Thanks,

    Hello Gavin,

Please check the attached sample that uses the Component one Chart Control as an ActiveX control. When exporting the chart to PDF, the dotted lines are visible. Could you please check this at your end and share your observations? Also, I would like to inform you that I have tested this with the latest build 2.5.0.1319. Please let us know the build of ActiveReports 2.0 that you are currently using. If you are using an older build, I suggest you to upgrade to the latest build downloadable from the DataDynamics->Samples folder at our FTP Site.

    Gavin,

Can you please provide us an image file as well as the exported PDF (in which the dotted lines are becoming solid).

Also let us know which version of ActiveReports 2.0 are you using?

    Regards,

    Amit

    Hi Amit,

The image files are attached. Before.png shows the report with the dotted lines and After.png shows the report after it has been exported to PDF. You will notice that the lines are now solid.

The version of ActiveReports being used is 2.4.1.1283

    Thanks,
