Excel Export Losing Data

    Hi,

I have a report which looks correct onscreen and also when exported as pdf. However, when i export to Excel it is missing 2-3 lines at the bottom of each page. I have attached a rdf, pdf and xls to highlight the problem.

    Any suggestions?

I'm not sure I quite understand your question. Actually all data are presented in the xls file you provided. Could you describe me you problem in more details so I can help you?

Thank you for your reply. I have been able to successfully see the behavior described. However, the RPX file provided seems to be bound to a field for its data. Could you please provide some sample data so that I can test the behavior further, and submit a case to our development staff?

    Thanks,
        Eric

Actually, if you check your results you will find that you have reproduced the problem (unless the version of excel is the issue but i doubt that).

In your attachment the pdf has at the bottom the following (as per my previous post):

    MERRY LEA

    MESCAL

    MUSTER

In the Excel spreadsheet it has:

    MERRY LEA

    MESCAL

    NABINABAH GUNNER

Hence there is some data missing in the xls.

    Why is this?

Thank you for our reply. Unfortunately, I have been unable to reproduce the described behavior testing with the latest build of AR 2.0 available. Please ensure you are using the latest build available. You can find the update here:

     http://www.datadynamics.com/forums/37/ShowForum.aspx

The attached sample works well in my testing using the latest build available. Please let me know if you do not receive similar results.

    Thanks,
     Eric

    Here is the report rpx.

It is pretty simple though with only a single field in the detail which contains all the text.

    Thanks.

I was able to reproduce the issue. Could you provide me with rpx layout of the report so I can find a workaround for you?

    Hi,

Sorry if i was not clear enough.

If you look at the pdf and compare it to the xls you will notice that some of the data is missing.

    eg.

The names in the pdf go (towards end of first page)

    MERRY LEA

    MESCAL

    MUSTER

    MY CHANCE

    MYRA BROZNE

The names in the xls go

    MERRY LEA

    MESCAL

    NABINABAH GUNNER

    NABINABAH THE GUN

It has therefore dropped some data when converting to xls.

Do you know of a reason as to why this would be?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Here is an example that reproduces the problem.

If you look at the excel spreadsheet output you should notice that some of the number content has been skipped.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply and sample.  This behavior has been addressed to our development staff as case 16445 and I have linked your email address to the case as an affected user.  Currently you may be able use the Spreadbuilder API to have full control over what is being exported. You can find some helpful information about using the spreadbuilder API here:

    http://www.datadynamics.com/Help/AR2Exports/HX_Working_with_SpreadBuilder_sheets.html

    Thanks,

    Try this.

You should notice that the excel export jumps from 46 to 53.

Thank you for your reply and sample. Unfortunately, I have been unable to receive the same results as displayed by your PDF when running the provided sample. Would it be possible for you to provide me with the same sample used to generate the PDF and Excel export?

    Thanks,
        Eric
