Hi,

I am having a problem with the size of our report file. I am printing a tag to a thermal printer and I have run the following tests. The report has two image files that each have been populated with a 39Kb JPEG file. If I have both images populated with the JPEG images, the report size is about 2.5 Mb, with one image file populated the image size is about 1.2 Mb, with no images populated the report size is 92 Kb. I have loaded the images with JPEG files but I am amazed that the reports is so much larger. I have read the docs on the image file and I am stumped. Is there anything I can do about this?

Kevin
Hi Kevin,

Much like I explained over the phone, the JPEG is getting converted internally to a metafile to preserve image quality before it's resized or rendered to an export file. The common way to reduce this size is to convert the image to a metafile (typically WMF) and reduce the metafile size. To reduce the metafile size, consider reducing the resolution, reducing the dimensions and reducing the color palette.
