Hi there, I am currently upgrading an old Visual Studio 7 web project to Visual Studio 2017. I have successfully compiled and run the project, but the ActiveReports editor isn’t functioning. I can see the .rpx files in the project solution explorer, but when I open them, I just see the underlying code, not reports that I can edit in a visual way.

Can you help? I have updated my license file to match that in a different, application project that I run in VS2017. The editor works there but not in the web project.

    Thanks,

    –Mike

    Hello,

AR3 does not support VS2017. AR3 was never tested VS2017 as it was not available at the time of AR3 release.

I would recommend you to update to the latest version of AR, AR12 to use with VS2017. Also, AR3 had been declared as a legacy product a long time ago and it is out of development mode hence, we don’t support it anymore now.

You can refer to the following link for the new features and enhancements:

You could use the trial version AR12 which can be downloaded from the following link:

    Hope it clarifies.

    Thanks,

I was able to use AR 3.0 in a different VS2017 project, one for a desktop application. I have included all of the same .dll files in my web project, but I cannot edit the .rpx files with an editor.

    Hello Mike,

You can use the VS2017 to run the project of AR3. However, AR3 component never registered in VS2017. You cannot use any AR3 feature in VS2017 like Editing, add drop the AR component etc. Because the installer of AR3 is created much before VS2017. So, we recommend user not to use AR3 with VS2017.

    Hope it clarifies.

    Thanks,
