C1 Bulb Changer 2013

I am having version issues after upgrading a project from 2012 to 2013. I try running C1 Bulb Changer, but it just keeps saying that "The solution does not contain and Lightswitch projects. No changes were made."

Is C1 Bulb Changer available for VS 2013 Lightswitch Studio, desktop version?

    Hello,

This seems to be fixed in the latest version as the development team is unable to replicate the issue. The latest version is available at this link:
    http://prerelease.componentone.com/dotnet30/C1LightSwitch/2014-T2/

Can you check and let me know if the issue persists at your end ?

    Regards

    Hello,

We understand the complexity of the issue and we are trying to fix it asap.

However, could you please clarify that have you open the csproj file for the client subproject in notepad and look for one of the following property tags:

    <LightSwitchProjectType>Client</LightSwitchProjectType>
    <LightSwitchProjectTypeV3>Client</LightSwitchProjectTypeV3>
    <LightSwitchProjectTypeV45>Client</LightSwitchProjectTypeV45>

If one of these is present, then we don't know why it's not being recognized. We need to investigate it further.
And if not, then maybe there's another similar value we need to check (such as LightSwitchProjectTypeV4).

Please confirm the same. We will look into this issue further.

    Thanks,
    Reeva

    Hi Reeva,

I have reverted to version 60. BulbChanger works fine.

In it my csproj file is Client

I have lost too much time when I upgraded!!! to version 62 so do not intend to re-install till this problem is fixed.

Thanks for your help. It is appreciated

Please let me know when it is safe to run C1WebInstallerStudioLightSwitch.exe again and upgrade my version.

    Hello Stevecarr,

We understand that this issue occurs with 62 build only and not 61 build.

Hence, could you please clarify that have you open the csproj file for the client subproject in notepad and look for one of the following property tags:

    <LightSwitchProjectType>Client</LightSwitchProjectType>
    <LightSwitchProjectTypeV3>Client</LightSwitchProjectTypeV3>
    <LightSwitchProjectTypeV45>Client</LightSwitchProjectTypeV45>

If one of these is present, then we don’t know why it’s not being recognized. We need to investigate it further.
And if not, then maybe there’s another similar value we need to check (such as LightSwitchProjectTypeV4).

Please confirm the same. We will look into this issue further.

    Thanks,
    Reeva

    Hi Reeva,

I am now using version 61

and have no issues with BulbChanger

This seems to confirm that there is something wrong with Version 62

Please let me know when it is safe for me to upgrade to the latest version.

    Thanks

    Hello,

That seems to be a problem with installation i.e. installation might not be properly done. Hence, please uninstall completely older version 62 and then install 64 build of LightSwitch given below:-

    http://prerelease.componentone.com/dotnet30/c1lightswitch/2014-t2/C1StudioLightSwitch_4.0.20142.64.msi

And also please create an installation log.

Hope it helps and it should work for you. Else please send us the installation log. We will investigate this issue further.

    Thanks,
    Reeva

    Morning,

Searched on C drive for C1BulbChanger.dll

    Nothing found

    What next?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Could you please look at the folder "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\AddIns. C1BulbChanger.dll" on your system?

It should be dated 8/25/2014 (for build 62).

Maybe try running the following from a Visual Studio 2013 command prompt:-

    devenv /resetaddin C1BulbChanger.Connect

And let us know your observations.

    Thanks,
    Reeva

What do you mean by an installation log. Is this a setting a switch on?

    Thanks

The application is publishing but will not install (it was installing before I upgraded - no change to any code)

When I looked at the logging it is due to a null reference exception.

I will dig deeper when I get the time

As of now there are no reported issue so far with latest build.

However, we will investigate this issue and we will get back to you.

In the meantime please make sure that the issue at your end might not be related to permissions.

    Good news
Have installed ComponentOne and BulbChanger now works.

    Bad News
Can't publish application to Azure now.

Publishing was fine till I uninstalled old version and installed new.

Very frustrating ! Starting to loose faith in ComponentOne.
