    Hi,

Is there any way to save the Cell Comments in DB.

    Hi Srinivasan,

Currently cell comments can not be saved separately to JSON. I have submitted a feature request for this. It may get added in future version of SpreadJS. The request id for this is 260924.

    Thanks,

    Hi Srinivasan,

SpreadJS is the pure client-side spreadsheet component, from the technology point of view, it does not have too much relationship with backend DB techonology.

We would like to understand your use case in detail. Could you please let us know why do you want to save cell comments separately to DB?

    Thanks,

    Deepak Sharma

    Hi Deepak,

Actually,My Requirement is to have a comments column and save it to DB.Since SpreadJS has a Comments in Context Menu by default i posted whether it can be saved in Database. As of now,I used comments as separate column and saved.Thank you for your response.

    Hi Srinivasan,

Thank you for letting me know about your use case. It is good that your found a workaround. I have have informed about your use case to our development team. This feature may get added to the SpreadJS in future if they find the use case feasible enough.

    Thanks,

The ability to save comments would make the feature much more useful since you can save pretty much everything else to the database. The lack of ability to save comments limits this tool’s viability as a data entry instrument which mimics Excel (this is our desired use case). If someone wants to build a SpreadJS grid from a collection of database tables, it can be done, but a comments column must be used rather than using the Excel feature that was meant for comments.

Without ability to save comments, they are only useful in cases where you want to display a static table whose comments can’t be changed or saved except by the developer hard coding them in - but I could be mistaken.

    Hello,

You can use toJSON and fromJSON methods to export and import comments for cells.

    Thanks,
