About column preferred width

I have dealing with performance problems with big grids, (using a FpSpread 2005.2007 (2.5)) and I would like to know if using the Column.GetPreferredWidth() method could be the reason why my grid spends so much time to update.

If no change happens on a specific column, does the GetPreferredColumnWidth() recalculate anyway or does it buffer the last result ?

    TY for your answer.

Most likely it does.  If the spread is repainting then it will have to.  You could try calling the SuspendLayout and ResumeLayout methods to see if this improves your performance, but there are other factors that may also be involved that slow down the spread.
