Applying a custom skin

In the Spread Designer I went to Format | spread | spreadskin editor and created a custom skin but when I click the apply button it doesn't apply the skin.  I also tried to apply the skin from the properties window.  Nothing seems to work.

    Hello,

I am not able to replicate the behavior, everytime I created a Custom Skin as soon as I click on apply, Spread does show the changes.

    I do the following

    Spread Designer ->Format-> Spread->SpreadSkin Editor->Custom->(After Customizing the Skin)->Apply

I am using the latest version of Spread for Windows Forms. Please try with latest version of Spread and let me know if you still face the same issue.

    Thanks,

Right now I'm using the trial edition.  It is strange because I seemed to be able to do it in the past.  If I apply one of the other standard skins, it works.  It just won't apply a custom skin.

I am still not able to replicate this issue, Please test this with Version 4.0.2012.2005 of Spread for Windows Forms. Please send across a small zipped project replicating the issue for us to debug if that doesn't resolve the issue. You may download the trial version of Spread at ftp://ftp.fpoint.com/SpreadWinForms4/spwin4_net20-2012.zip

    Thanks,

It seems to be specific to a particular spread control that I have added to a form and done considerable formatting in the designer.  Since my last post, added another form to my project, then added a spread control and successfully applied the custom skin.  I'll download using the link to you provided and see if that makes any difference.

I am not sure whether that is the reason for Custom Skin not reflecting the changes made by you. As I am not able to replicate the issue, the best way to test it would be to check it with another Build of Spread for Windows Forms and please share your observations with us.

    Thanks,

I had been working with the trial.  Last week I purchased the live product and downloaded the latest version.  I'm still having the same problem.  Can I zip up my project and email it to you?  Also where would I email it?

    Thanks, Ed

    Hello,

If the size of zipped sample project is less than 256 k, you can Post it on forums itself. Please mention the steps to reproduce the issue also.

    Thanks,

The problem is with just two forms in my project. The whole project compressed is 2,066kb.  I'd rather not have to pull out those forms from the project.  In one of my previous post I noted that the problem started after I interrupted  the re-serialization process.  Since then not only have I been unable to apply the custom skin and the re-serialization process never runs.  Before it seemed to run automatically every so often.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

You may email your zipped project to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse:separate;font-family:Tahoma;font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:normal;letter-spacing:normal;line-height:normal;orphans:2;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size:12px;text-align:left;">fpsupport@fpoint.com, as it is not possible for me to tell you the exact solution/reason for this without being able to reproduce the issue.</span></span>

    Thanks,

I thought it was worth mentioning one more thing.  I may have caused the problem inadvertently.  On one occasion when I was working the automatic re-serialization process started running.  For some reason it was running very very slowly and I interrupted it.  After that I noticed that some of the formatting I had done in my custom skin was no longer there.  It was after that that applying the custom skin no longer seemed to work.
