Confused about ChildViewCreated Event

    Hi,

I am using Win.Spread 2.5.2013.2005. In the documentation for the ChildViewCreated Event, it says:

"Occurs when a child view of the FarPoint Spread component is created."

Period -- no exceptions are noted. Yet, this does not seem to be the case. If the user clicks on the + sign, or I expand a row programmatically, the event does fire. However, if a child view is created as a side effect of calling .GetChildView, the event does *not* seem to fire.

Is the documentation wrong, is there a bug, or am I misunderstanding something? I should think that the event should fire regardless of HOW the child view was created.

Thanks,

C17

c17 -

The event has never fired when using GetChildView. I think the word 'create' in the help file is misleading.

>>The event has never fired when using GetChildView. I think the word 'create' in the help file is misleading.<<

In that case the documentation is not merely misleading, it's flat out wrong. I think you've got two choices:

a) Change the documentation for ChildViewCreated so it reflects the actual behavior, or

b) Change the name of the event (ChildViewCreatedViaExpand?) so it reflects the actual behavior.

In the meantime, is there some event I don't know about that fires the 1st time a child view is created -- regardless of HOW it got created?

Thanks,

C17

Only the ChildViewCreated which only fires when you expand the row either by clicking on the + or calling ExpandRow. I will see if we can't give a better explanation for GetChildView.

Bob,

Just so I'm 100% sure I understand -- is there any event that fires when a view is created via GetChildView?

If not, please consider this an enhancement request.

Thanks for your assistance,

C17

No there is not. I have already added it as an enhancement for you.
