Please load the attached xml file into the spread designer.

In row 2 you see some text (‘Row 1’ - ‘Row 4’)

When you edit this cell, there is no cursor and the first row is not visible although there is enough space to display it.

When you edit a cell in column ‘Bezeichnung’ on another row there is also no cursor visible.

    I’m using Spread version 10.40.20174.0.

    Can you tell me why?

    Hello,

WE didn’t receive any attachment from your end.

Hence, we request you to please share the xml file again in a zipped folder. We will look into this issue thereon.

In the meantime, you can test your case with the latest version as well which can be downloaded from this link:-

Please share your further observations on the same.

    Thanks,

    Hello,

We tested your issue with Spread v11.45.20183.0 and here are our observations for the two cases:-

    1. There is no cursor and the first row is not visible

This issue cannot be replicated with latest version v11.45.20183.0

    1. Edit a cell in column ‘Bezeichnung’ on another row there is also no cursor visible

This issue is replicated and hence we are escalating the same to the concerned team for the fix.

P.S. : Both the issues can be replicated with Spread V10 build you mentioned but since 1st issue is resolved in latest build hence, we are escalating the 2nd one only for the fix.

Tracking id for your issue is #265114

We will update you once we hear anything back from our concerned team.

    Thanks,

    Reeva

While testing this problem with V11/SP2 I have noticed the following:

Set the celltype of a column to text.

Set these properties: Multiline = True, WordWrap = True, Vertical Alignment = Bottom

Now set the height of a row to say 100

Now start typing in this row and column. Type ‘aa’, space, ‘bb’, space, ‘cc’. The text you’re entering is always moving upwards within the cell while typing.

Hope you can recreate the problem.

    Hello Thomas,

We could observe the behavior at our end but there doesn’t seem to be an issue as after exiting the cell the text is bottom aligned as we specified.

And you can check the same behavior in Excel as well wherein after inputting one line, it is pushing text upwards as to create space for typing other words at bottom.

    Hope it clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Reeva,

I made a little video showing what the problem is. It’s a bit hard to explain and I’m pretty sure this is not happening the same in Excel.

Hope this helps to clarify things.

    Hi Thomas,

I tested your issue with the Spread Designer using latest version of Spread for Windows Forms v11.45.20181.0 and could not replicate the issue, please refer to the attached image.

Please test the attached XML file at your end and let me know if you can still see the behavior.

    Thanks,

    Deepak,

I have opened your updated xml in spread designer V11.45.20183.0 and still found the following problems:

    1. If you double click the cell in row 3/column Bezeichnung no cursor is shown. If you enter a character instead of double clicking you will see a cursor.

    2. If I edit row 6 the text is displayed in the middle of the cell. When I enter more characters the text is moving up in the editbox everytime I press the spacebar. This is clearly shown in the video I posted earlier.

    Hi Thomas,

I am able to replicate the cursor issue at my end.

It does not look like a bug since I created a new workbook in Spread Designer and set the celltype to Text. After making the settings as suggested by you I am not able to replicate this issue.

May I know how did you create this XML file? It does not look like that this XML file was created with Spread Designer originally.

The second issue of text moving upwards on pressing space bar key is not reproducible.

It moves the text upwards on pressing the Enter key which is the correct behaviorm since we have multiline set to true.

    Thanks,

IMHO the first issue is a bug even if it only occurs with this xml file.

The xml file was create by one of our applications.

For most clients this works fine but for some we are experiencing this behaviour.

I have tested the second issue again with your xml (test_updated.zip) with V11 designer and the issue is still occuring.

    Hi Thomas,

I have reported this issue to the development team for investigating further. We will also test the issue with text moving upwards on hitting enter key.

The tracking id for this issue is 266111. I will let you know as soon as find the cause of the issue or need further information from you.

    Thanks,

BTW: It’s not the enter key that make text move upwards it’s just entering test and after entering a space the text moves upwards. If you watch the video again you will see that there is not new line when entering the text.

    Hello,

As per the development team, your issue “Cursor not showing” is fixed for upcoming version of Spread i.e. v12.0.

For the other issue , I watched the video carefully and it is still not reproducible at our end. I have asked the developer’s view on this. I will let you know

    Thanks,

    Deepak Sharma
