    Hello,

I have installed the latest release of Spread under Windows Vista, and all seems to work fine, except that I can't run the Spread Designer. I get this error :  "Unable to cast object of type FarPoint.Win.Spread.FpSpread to type FarPoint.Win.Spread.FpSpread".

    Spread version : 2.5.2009.2005

    Visual Studio 2005  : 8.0.50727.867  (vsvista.050727-8600) - SP1 + Vista compatibility update

    Hello,

I am not able to reproduce this problem. Make sure you are running Visual Studio 2005 in Administrative mode. If you are, are there any settings you make on the Spread before trying to bring up the Spread Designer?

    Scott,

Actually, when I insert a Spread in a new project, it doesn't create any reference to the Farpoint assemblies (neither Farpoint.Win nor Farpoint.Win.Spread or Farpoint.Win.Spread.Design). I must add them manually to the project. This error was simply due to the missing Farpoint.Win.Spread.Design reference.

I have similar problem.  Using latest Windows Vista Home Premium with latest VS2005 for Vista release.  spwin25VS05-2010 appeared to load OK.  References are in place.  I had to manually add the spread to the toolbox.  I can addd a spread to a form but if I start the Designer I can't exit it.  Get the error "Unable to cast object of type FarPoint.Win.Spread.FpSpread to type FarPoint.Win.Spread.FpSpread".  Have to use the Task Manger to shut down.

    Hello,

It sounds like some assembly did not get registered in the GAC correctly. Make sure you have the correct version of the following assemblies in your GAC.

    FarPoint.CalcEngine.dll
    FarPoint.Excel.dll
    FarPoint.PluginCalendar.WinForms.dll
    FarPoint.Win.dll
    FarPoint.Win.Spread.dll
    FarPoint.Win.Spread.Design.dll
    FarPoint.SpreadWrapper.dll

Both FarPoint.Win.Spread.Design.dll and FarPoint.SpreadWrapper.dll were missing.  Seems to be working now.  Will continue my evaluation.

    Thx
