Hi,

We would like to have a form containing the windows spread component which holds our base data. We wish to update this "base" data on a frequent (automatic) basis.

    then...

We would also like to have a number of inherited forms that are derived from this base form containing summary data using formulas that reference this base data form. We would like that data to automatically recalculate/reflect any changes made to the base forms data.

Is this possible with this component and will be the deciding influence over our purchase (we have the demo currently).

    Thanks.

    James.

Whilst I understand that can you think of any solutions to this?

    ie.

Reference the "base" form within a new form and assign the sheetview contained within it to the sheet collection on the "child" form, for example!?

That would be about the only thing I can think of but in my testing I can add a sheet from one form to the spread on another but the data doesn't persist, so I don't know if this is going to work.

Formulas can be cross-referenced between sheets but not between other spreads on different forms.

One idea might be to save the sheet on the base form to an xml file and then open that file on the other forms spread and then add a blank sheet to do whatever it is you want.

Will that give me cascaded updates if we change the values on the base sheet though?!

No, it will not. As I mentioned earlier, formulas are not capable of referencing other spreads. You would have to update the values programatically.
