Migration from old FP 2.5 to latest

we are using the FarPoint Spread grid 2.5 since years in our software, and never took time to migrate the grid to newest version.

As we are now increasing the team with new developers, we need to buy additional licenses, and we are thinking of using this opportunity to migrate to the latest FP Spread Grid release.

My question is the following: is migration just a matter of changing the old grid object by the new one, to get the same behavior than before or is there some recommendation to follow?

I was thinking of encapsulating the grid within an external user control (in separate DLL) and change the software by small parts, and live temporarily with the 2 grids until final and total replacement of the grid.

    Thank you for your advises.

In order to use the new version of the controls, you need to follow the below mentioned steps for that matter where in you need to replace the old dll in your project with the new one and also have to update the licenses.licx file.

Here are the steps for the same:-

    1) Create a backup of the old project.
    2) Delete the old references from the references tab in Solution Explorer.
    3) Delete the licenses.licx file.

( use any set of steps 4 and 5)

    4) Add the new references of all the controls being used in your application along with Design dll's
    5) Open all the forms in Design mode and this will create licenses.licx file with the new license strings.

    4) Add a new form
    5) And then drag drop all the controls( of the latest version) being used in your application.( This will create licenses.licx file along with adding references in the solution explorer references tab)

    6) Rebuild the project. And it should work for you.

    Hope it helps.
