Before upgrade I was able to paste excel selection to spread and it added the new rows as required, now I try to do the same and it is not working, is this a bug?

The spread is binded to a dataview and I have the first three columns using custom celltype (TextCellType) just for validations.

Update: Attached simple project to demonstrate the issue. It have only 5 rows if you try to paste more than 5 it will do nothing.

I just tried the new version 4.0.3512.2008 that i would understand should get rid of the issue, but i do not see any difference. I tried with an unbound grid and pasting data greater than the row count is not adding new rows, is this only supposed to work for bound grids?

    Hello,

I was able to reproduce this issue and have reported this as a bug (#26916) for the development team to fix for the next maintenance release.

Thanks. Any ideas when a fix will be available?

    Hello,

Adding of rows and columns is not the designed behavior of the Spread when pasting data. The bug before was that if the block of data in the paste block was larger than the number of cells from the active cell, then nothing was pasted. We fixed that to now paste to the limit of rows and columns.

Scott are you considering dynamically adding more rows to the grid as a feature of the component? Since, it was a feature as we have a component working that does it, and we rely on that feature (so we hope the component keeps working the way it used to work when we started).

     Thanks.

    Hello,

We are not. We honor the settings made by the developer for RowCount and ColumnCount. If we changed these based on a paste, it is possible to break people's code. I would suggest catching the paste and providing your own code for doing the paste. You can get the data off the clipboard and determine the size of the block to see if you need to add columns or rows before pasting the data.
