Is their a way in Spread to have a running Total like in excel (Eg: =SUM($A$1:$B1))

I have 2 columns, Credit and Debit, and I need a 3rd column to show the running total.

    Thanks

    Nadr,

In Excel, the coordinates of a range reference (i.e. start column, start row, end column, end row) can have any combination of absolute/relative.  Thus, =SUM($A$1:$B1) is allowed.

In Spread, ranges references are a little more restricted.  The start and end column coordinates have to have the same absolute/relative attribute.  The start and end row coordinates have to have the absolute/relative attribute.  Thus, SUM($A$1:$B1) is not allow because the start row is absolute but the end row is relative.  This restriction is due to the fact the Spread stores range references internally as RangeExpression(row, column, rowCount, columnCount, rowRelative, columnRelative) with only one absolute/relative flag for the row coordinates and only one absolute/relative flag for the column coordinates.

To do a running balance in Spread, you could set the formula in the first cell in 3rd column to sum the first two columns (e.g. =SUM($A1,$B1)).  Then you could set the formula in the remaining cells in 3rd column to sum the first two columns and the previous cell in the 3rd column (e.g. =SUM($A2,$B2,$C1)).

Can this been done in the designer? If not, could you please explain how this would be done in VB

    Thanks

    Hello,

Yes, this can be done using designer by highlighting a cell and writing a formula in it. You can select a range here which is to be used in formula using mouse drag operation or using shift and arrow keys as well in the designer.

    Thanks.
