Trouble uninstalling Spread studio

    Hi

    I currently have two versions of spread studio on my machine (Spread studio for .Net 7 v3 and V4). Having now successfully migrated my clients from V3 to V4 and realing that Spread 8 is now available I thought that it would be sensible to remove v3. However when I try to uninstall I am faced with the error that you can see in the attached illustration.

    If I invoke Change from Add Remove programs and then select uninstall it's the same. If I repair the install and then try and uninstall it's the same. So simple question, 'How do I uninstall Spread studio'.

    FYI I get exactly the same result trying to uninstall spread 7 V4.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    I have run this but it clearly doesn't remove the bits of information that tell visual studio to load the grapecity spread controls into the toolbox. I have attached the activity log produced by visual studio (in this case vs 2013 premium). Presumably there is either a configuration file or registry file left somewhere that is causing the issue. Could you possibly find out what it might be and how I delete that.

    Incidentally, your suggested solution installed some additional programs without my authority. It clearly does work to a point but you need to try and find a version that only installs the uninstaller.

    Hello Dom,

    Yes this was a known bug. You may uninstall Spread using the third party "IObit uninstaller". You may download the same from the below link:

    Also make sure to run the “Powerful Scan”.

    I have zipped up all of the logs ( they come to less than the file upload limit when zipped) so hopefully you will be able to identify the one(s) that you need.

    There are several logs there. The two main logs created when the installation of Spread 7.3 and 7.4 were successful, and then a whole bunch created on those occasions when it failed to uninstall.

    The two main verbose installation logs both run to some 6.4 mb (it never ceases to amaze me just how verbose installers can get when they feel like it!).

    If these are the files that you want I'll happily send them to you, but I don't think the forum will allow files of that size to be uploaded.

    Let me know if these are the ones you want and if so how you would like me to forward them to you.

    Hi Dom,


    When Spread Installer is being run, the log file is generated under the ".../AppData/Local/Temp/" directory.

    The name pattern is “Spread_Studio_for_.NET_7_v*_yyyyMMddhhmmss.log”

    This log file would provide us with information necessary to troubleshoot this issue. Please share it with us.
