    i have attached an example to mimic the problem

    Open index.html

    scroll to the bottom

    click on a row

    the grid will jump a few position up, while the selected row is not in view.

    Note:

    2 things we can’t remove here are

    1. the div tag with style=“position: fixed; top: 50px; left: 50px; bottom: 0; right: 0; overflow-x: auto”

    Hi,

    I can reproduce this issue. The issue seems to be with the inline style. Let me forward this to the devs.

    Angular Material beta.12 now supports fixed content within a ```

    mat-sidenav-container

    There isn't much documentation for this feature yet though. So you'll need to review the PR here: https://github.com/angular/material2/pull/6712 and the demo here: https://mmalerba-demo5.firebaseapp.com/sidenav.

    It looks like you'll need to set ```
    [fixedInViewport]="true"
    ``` on your ```
    mat-sidenav
    ```s to get this functionality.

    Update: I just tested this with Angular Material beta.12 and it seems to be fixed w/ or w/o [fixedInViewport]="true".
