Reinvent data visualization in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server technologies with Grids, Charts, and Maps

Reinvent data visualization in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server technologies with Grids, Charts, and Maps

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - September 30, 2009 - Today, ComponentOne announced the 2009 v2 release of their Web Parts for SharePoint. Originally released in the second quarter of 2009, the ComponentOne offering includes DataGrid for SharePoint, Chart for SharePoint and Maps for SharePoint.

These Web Parts are revolutionary in the way they have reinvented data visualization in Microsoft Office SharePoint products and technologies. Each Web Part offers On-Board Designers for connecting, configuring, and styling data views without a single line of code. “In the first release we focused on a code-free experience for the novice Office SharePoint user, and in the 2009 v2 release we focused on making the experience more customizable and flexible for power users and developers,” said Dan Beall, product manager at ComponentOne.

Two new features across the board for the entire ComponentOne Web Parts line is the ability to interconnect Web Parts; therefore, providing filtering and drill-down interactivity and a code editor to create custom behaviors. “This makes Office SharePoint Server pages more interactive and allows for richer, more meaningful data views,” said Beall.

When it comes to mapping, the ComponentOne Maps for SharePoint Web Part is designed to plot any location on the map surface and connect drill down information with smart-pins. The new geocoding feature automatically associates address data, such as postal codes or city/state information, to geographical coordinates.

Since their release, the ComponentOne Web Parts have been recognized as the Web Parts of choice by members of The Code Project and the readers of Visual Studio Magazine. In each instance, ComponentOne Web Parts for SharePoint received the highest honor.

Beall shared that the product consists of actual Web Parts, ready right out of the box, as opposed to ASP.NET or Microsoft Silverlight controls, which require large development efforts to make them work in the Office SharePoint Server 2007 environment and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.

“ComponentOne Web Parts can add interactivity to SharePoint sites while utilizing rich SharePoint capabilities,” said Kathleen Winder, director of product marketing for SharePoint at Microsoft Corp. “With the latest release, ComponentOne Web Parts can connect to each other, resulting in interactive pages that don’t require post backs or full-page refreshes.”

ComponentOne is an exhibitor at Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 being held October 19-22, 2009 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. At booth #713, ComponentOne will have product experts and managers on hand for demos and questions.
