I booted up a virtual machine to see if active reports 13 would install properly into Visual Studio 19. No luck.

I assume that we need to wait for an updated version that supports it?

    Hi Pete,

Though ActiveReports 13 is not supported with VS 2019 yet, ActiveReports 13 SP1 will be supported with the same.

Release for SP1 is scheduled for the end of April.

    Best Regards,

    Esha

It is April 24th. It is almost the end of the month. Can you tell us when this is supposed to be released. I have moved completely to VS 2019 and just upgraded to V13 last night. I can no longer compile, upgrade reports, have access to the designer or anything. I am completely down. Any suggestions?

HEADS UP: Today I updated VS2019 to 16.1. Now they insist that all extensions perform synchronous autoloading. Apparently the AR13 extension does not. Fortunately you can disable this ‘feature’ in options.

    Hello Peter,

Our development team is already working on this(272078) and will inform you once I get any information from them.

    Thanks.

    Please do the following steps:

    1: Uninstall the existing AR

3: Rum the command prompt with Administrator privilege

    4: Run the following command:

msiexec /i “AR installer path” /L*V “Path of log file”

If the issue is still reproducible, please share log file generated in step 4

    Thanks.

Another heads up. (I’m adding to this thread because this is first Google result when searching AR 13 and VS 2019) Apparently the v13.1.17466.0 fix broke the Visual Studio designer. AR is aware and working on it.

    Hello,

The issue mentioned by Chip has been fixed in the latest hotfix. You can download the latest hotfix from the following link:

    http://cdn.grapecity.com/ActiveReports/AR13/hotfixes/ActiveReports-v13.1.17570.0.msi

Note: Please uninstall the AR before installing it.

    Thanks.

I can confirm 17570 hotfix has corrected the designer issue.

I did notice that on a Large project, going into the Tools, Convert to AR13 does take a long time… be patient it will work… after it converts the project, I now have the Reports under extensions again… So the Hot Fix does work.

However, I did have to manually remove the references to activereports.core.rendering, activereports.core.Rdl and activereports.drawing.Gdi then manully add the new (correct) version to the references. Seems these componet references did not get upgraded when I did the Convert to AR13 to upgrade from the previous version. Just a FYI

Question: where can I easily go, or link to, to find the latest hotfix[es] for SP1? I stumbled on this in a Google search, which doesn’t seem to be a great way to run a railroad here…

    Hello,

Go to “http://cdn.grapecity.com/”. Search for: activereports/ar13/hotfixes/ActiveReports-v13.1.

To download a build version, say 17189, copy its key content and paste it in the browser search bar, after the hyperlink you navigated to i.e. the url will now be “http://cdn.grapecity.com/ActiveReports/AR13/hotfixes/ActiveReports-v13.1.17189.0.msi”. Note that the hotfixes are created related to specific fixes for customer issues only.

Further, for the releases, you can use the following link:

    https://www.grapecity.com/controls/activereports/download-version-history

Thanks Esah, that helps. Please note though that my team couldn’t get AR 13.1 release to show up properly in VS 2019… we had to search and find the trail of hotfixes in this thread in order to find the latest - we used that and suddenly things are fine.

I suggest that AR consider adding to the release page each hotfix release and the notes behind it, so that customers can more easily find and access downloads.

    Thank you,

    –J
