Hi, I’m working with Active Reports 11 on VS 2017 today and would like to connect this to Visual Studio 2019.

Will there be an update to AR11 to allow to connect to VS2019 or will we have to buy again another 30 licenses / 600$ just to follow the latest Visual Studio?

    Hello,

AFAIK, there is no plan to include supports of VS2019 in AR11 as AR11 is out of maintenance mode. However, I have escalated the case to our development team(271423) for the confirmation and will inform you once I get any reply from them.

    Thanks.

    Hello Arndt,

As per reply from the product managers, they are not going to update AR11 to support VS2019 as AR11 is out of maintenance mode now.

You have to purchase the license of AR13 to use the AR with VS2019.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

You’re saying AR13 works with VS2019. I don’t believe the AR13 report designer is integrated with VS2019; is that correct? If yes, are there plans to provide support for VS2019 soon?

    Thank you.

    Hello,

Sorry for the confusion. Ar13 Sp1 will be supported with VS 2019 which is scheduled for the end week of April.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know if AR12 will get an update for Visual Studio 2019? I found a way to get it working, but that is obviously unsupported so far.

    Hello,

As per our policy, we don’t extend environment support to older versions. So you need to upgrade to our latest version .i.e AR13.

Also, support of VS2019 will be included in AR13 SP1 which is scheduled for the end week of April.

    Thanks.

I have created project in Visual Studio with Active Report 14 MVC JS Viewer. I am able to run the project and I see the report. Now when I add a new report and follow the process for code same as default report . The application says new rport not found. When I checked Home controller, there is function Report and which returns list of reports in the Assembly, that returns only default report not newly added report. Need help for this

Also, I have created JS Viewer project. It successfully run the project and within HTML file it loads the report.

Teh HTML file is being returned from Home Controller Index method, but how can I pass something from Homecontroller to html. As the report viewer is not working in cshtml file. i want to pass Action method parameter’s value to the html file and from html file to the report Parameter. How can I do that?

    Hey Mohit,

Link you sent me to download is a Trial version. I have licensed version of AR, and I was able to design reports using VS2017. Now I upgraded VS to 2019, but report designer is not working. I want to reinstall that AR designer only.

    Hello Devarsh,

The application says new rport not found

Please set the BuildAction of the report to “Embedded Resource” to display the report.

Also, please reopen the different cases on forum for different issues to avoid confusion.

    Thanks,

    Mohit

Are you kidding me??? I can’t use AR 11 with VS2019? I want a free upgrade this is Bullshit.

  • Posted 26 August 2020, 5:41 pm EST

    Hello Kim,

I am sorry for the inconvenience caused.

VS 2019 came in the market after the last release of AR11. It was neither designed nor tested to be used with VS 2019. That’s why, AR11 does not support VS2019.

Note that, AR11 is a legacy product. It is out of maintenance mode now. Hence, we do not fix any bug for the product and also, do not provide support for the same. As per our policy, we don’t extend environment support to older versions. Therefore, you would need to upgrade to the latest version, i.e, AR14 in order to be able to use the modern tools and environments.

However, you can use AR11 dlls in VS0219 and code but the AR templates would not be available for VS0219.

You can refer to the following link for supported versions of VS in AR11:

    https://help.grapecity.com/activereports/webhelp/AR11/webframe.html#Requirements.html

Once again, I am sorry for not being able to help much in this case.

    Thanks,

    Mohit
