I cannot find a dedicated forum for this, so here goes. Is Spread 8 still supported? Is there an update for Windows 10? I cannot edit any of my applications on Windows 10 due to Spread 8 not working.

    Hello,

Spread 8 has not been designed or tested on windows 10 machine yet because Windows 10 was not in market when Spread 8 was released. But we are still in process of supporting Spread 8.

    Thanks,

    Reeva

“Windows 10 was not in market when Spread 8 was released”

This is true for anything you are writing right now. The next version of Windows beyond 10 has not yet been released, so future compatibility can never be guaranteed.

Are you planning on releasing an update to allow Spread 8 to work in Windows 10 or is Spread 8 at the “end of life”?

    Hello

I found this topic about supporting Spread 8 on Windows 10.

Our company uses Spread 8 in our older product (made in Delphi 7, Spread v8.0.0.13, more than 6000 users of this product) and now we have problem with Windows 10 compatibility (reading xlsx files).

Do you know something new about supporting this component on Windows 10?

If Spread 8 will be compatible with windows 10 when we can expect new version of spread 8?

    Thanks for reply.

    Best regards

    Miro

I gave up waiting for a solution from ComponentOne. They kept telling me that spread 8 works fine with Win 10 when it does not. How many times have we told customers “the program works on my development machine” only to find that our program does not work on the client’s computer.

I have replaced Spread 8 in all my programs with the native data grid view control and have never looked back. Spread 8 is, after all, just a wrapper for the dgv control. My advice is to learn to program the data grid view control and your life will be much happier. You will no longer need to rely on a 3rd part active x control and the insane prices to upgrade.

    Hello

We are using FarPoint 6.0 (OCX) version and having issues in IE 11 where the backspace or the Enter key no longer works when editing in the grid.

Is this product still sold and is it possible there is an upgrade available to resolve this?

I think FP Spread 8 COM is perfect for several applications…even it maybe still has some minor bugs (what kind of software is definetily without bugs?), it runs very well in my opinions. Even graphics are well done and suitable for nowadays softwares.

It would be a pity not supporting (even as it is today… V8.23) it towards new OS…

Think about people who works outside .NET framework and outside any other common framework, the COM version is “diamond tip” of our applications, covering all the lacks of native grids offered by minor IDEs (even major IDEs often relies on 3rd party components for these kind of controls). I had FP7 on my old cobol apps for years and now I ported all of them in PCSoft Windev IDE thanks to FP8, in a very short and easy way.

I don’t think I can import .NET version of FP or any other version in my environment (in the worst scenario I will try…), I bet all on COM version. Perfect on XP as in Win7 and Win8.

I know the source code is for sale but, beyond the fee, how many of us users are able to program seriously in MFC? Even if you give me the code as gift I really would not know where to start to make it compatible with Win10 and future OS… We need you

I really hope support will not be discontinued on COM, even paying it, why not? It’s business, how much it will cost to us finding a proper substitute control instead of keeping live the one we invested on for years… Even having it running equal as now on Win7 would be enough.

    Thank you for you work.

Hi Reeva - we are using 8.0.24 but have an issue where sometimes in Internet Explorer 10 or 11, the Enter key or backspace key stops working within the grid itself. It is random which makes it very hard to provide information for it.

We use the Farpoint control within VB as an Active X control within IE browsers. We have been doing this for 16 years and only recently it stopped working. Updating to 8 fixed it most of the time but not all of the time.

Are you aware of this issue?

My application is developed in “Far Point Ver 2.5.1003.202” and would like to upgrade FarPoint to 8.0

Would like to know whether my code will work without (Backward Compatibility) any changes OR I need to rewrite the code ?
