Performance Question

    Hi,

We have been using the data dynamics rdlx reports for several years. We upgraded to Active Reports 13 last year and for the most part everything has been great. But we do have some performance issues sometimes. The CPU remains high sometimes even after a report is finished. I have made changes to properly dispose of the report based on documentation. But that hasn’t totally gotten rid of the issue. I am wondering if part of the issue is a good majority or our reports were written with subreports. We could have anywhere from 1 to maybe 5-7 subreports in a report. Is it considered better practice to try and avoid subreports and use grouping instead? Is there any other performance tips that might help? We went from using Data Dynamics 1.6 to Active Reports 13, so I’m sure there are some areas we can improve on to take advantage of the newer version. I can’t say for sure the issue didn’t exist prior to updating, just wanted to be sure to point that out in case there are suggestions dealing with the move.

    Thanks!

    Hello Richard,

Could you please check with latest version of AR13 as the same case related to performance has fixed in AR13 Sp2.

If the issue does not solve, could you please share the sample with us to that we can reproduce the issue at our end.

Also, as per performance, the grouping is much better than a subreport.

    Thanks,

    Mohit

    Hi Mohit,

Thank you! I will try SP2 and see if that resolves the CPU issue and will work to move our heavier reports to grouping for better performance.

    Thanks!

    Richard
