I have a web application I’ve been hosting now for over 15 years and I have used Active Reports to generate reports for quite some time now. I recently upgraded the app to Visual Studio 2019 and the v4.8 of the .NET Framework. Now I can no longer run reports. The message I get every time is:

    Exception type: InvalidOperationException

Exception message: No web service found at: /MyApp/ActiveReports.ReportService.asmx.

I have never used a “Web Service” of any kind, much less a Active Reports web service to run reports, all my reports have always run “standalone”. What’s changed? I haven’t changed anything in my app other than upgrade to Visual Studio 2019. I need help, this is a production app and it can no longer generate reports. I’m using Active Reports v11.3.13058.0.

    Hi Prescott,

This seems you have created a duplicate case for further communication, I would request you to please refer to the original support case:[CAS-38379-L7F6Q8].

For others, facing a similar issue in ActiveReports 11, I am also posting my support case reply here for reference:

Please note ActiveReports 11 is a legacy product and we no longer provide support for ActiveReports 11. I would suggest you to upgrade to ActiveReports 17 for the latest bug fixes and features.

You may download ActiveReports 17 using the following link: Download ActiveReports 17

If upgrading ActiveReports is not an option for you, I would suggest you to rollback the changes implemented in the project and use Visual Studio 17 & .Net Framework 4.6.2 as ActiveReports 11 is not supported on Visual Studio 19 & .Net Framework 4.8. For more information on this, please refer to the following page of our documentation: Product Requirements for ActiveReports 11

Since we no longer support ActiveReports 11, if the issue still persists I would suggest you to the latest version of ActiveReports i.e. ActiveReports 17 or refer to the GrapeCity Forum or other public forums like StackOverFlow Forum for any solution from other current users or previous users of ActiveReports 11.

    Regards,

    Akshay

I purchase, downloaded, and installed Active Report v17. I cannot add reference to v17 via “Add Reference” so I added references to it via the browse option. When I compile I get the error “Type ‘Global.GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Web.WebViewer’ is not defined”. I google that error and the solution I found said to install the NuGet Grape City web viewer. When I do that and compile, I get 781 errors all saying that references “System.Web” anything cannot be found, so I uninstalled the NuGet Web Viewer package and now I only get two errors both for the web view.

I’m using Visual Studio v16.11.24 and Active Reports v17.0.1.0 and I cannot use it.

    Please advise.

Because of the issues I had with Active Reports 2017, I backed out my changes and compiled the project with VS 2017 … EXACTLY THE SAME ERROR

Exception message: No web service found at: /MyApp/ActiveReports.ReportService.asmx.

Whatis going on?? No one responds to my requests for support of the Out =-Of-The_box issues I’m having with Active Reports v17, I have a production system that is DOWN effectively puts me out of business and NOTHING BUT CRICKETS FROM Grape City. I’m just about had it with you people.

    Hi Prescott,

    >> “Type ‘Global.GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Web.WebViewer’ is not defined”.

Please make sure to also install the GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Web nuget package and add reference to the GrapeCity.ActiveReports.Web assembly into the web form. You may refer to the WebViewer sample available on our GitHub repository. I have attached the sample along with.

    >> No web service found at: /MyApp/ActiveReports.ReportService.asmx.

I am unable to reproduce this issue at my end. For reference, I have attached a sample application using the WebViewer with the services setup. In the attached sample please check the Global.aspx file for reference. For more information on this you may refer to the following pages of our documentation: ASP.NET WebViewer Application

If the issue persists please share an sample application reproducing this issue as in order to help you resolve this issue we will first need to reproduce this issue at our end. If you are unable to reproduce this issue in a stripped down sample I would suggest you to please share your application which reproduces the issue over a support case due to privacy and security reasons I would not suggest you to share your application over the public forum. Once you have share the application over the support case one our support team members will pick up the case and help you resolve this issue. You may also add reference to this forum case so they can pick up where we have left.
