Hi, my understanding is that Active Reports can’t be used in any sort of an HA state due to locks on the edb file. I was also told that moving the edb file to a non-default location could potentially cause corruption. I would like to have the data hosted in a network share that is accessible to 2 servers in an active/hot-spare setup this way if there is an issue, or we need to do maint on 1 server we can easily switch over to the other. Why would moving the edb file to a non-default location cause issues/corruption? Does the application fully support changing of the db location via the ini file? Would it be better to use a sym link?

    Hello,

You can change the default edb path using the following steps:

1.Stop the ActiveReports Agent/Server services in "Services" window
    2.Change the location of "Storage.edb"
3.Replace connection string of "Storage.edb" with the new path in "ActiveReports.Server.Host.exe.config" file located at "C:\ActiveReports 12 Server\Server"
    4.Re-start the ActiveReports Agent/Server services

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks, Mohit

Thanks for the information, I was told this is not a recommended practice. Is this the case? Should there be any concerns that data in the edb file will be corrupted?

    Hello,

Yes, it is not a recommended practice because of the limitation in the upgrade process. Also, “storage.edb” is bound to the machine, you can copy this file to the different locations on the same machine, but on other machines, the same copy will be recognized as invalid file by ActiveReports Server.

    Thanks, Mohit
