We noticed that the behaviors of pivot table changed after saving using the API.

    Reproduction steps:
    1. Create a workbook with pivot table (We are using SSAS data source).
    2. Expand the result like following.

    3. Save the workbook using API
    4. Open the file again, the pivot table will be changed like following.

We hope that the behavior of pivot table should be the same after saving.
Please help to investigate this issue. Thank you.

The program used to generate the files is as following.

We do not face the issue at our end with the latest build 4.0.5 by running your attached sample.
If you are not using the latest API then please check once with it and if the issue still occurs then please share the environment details and MS Excel version on which you are opening the saved excel.

We can confirm that the problem still occurs with the latest build v4.05.

Sorry for omitting some very important prerequisites.

You need to connect to a working SSAS data source. The problem occurs after the first successful update of the pivot table.

The attached sample Excel file cannot be reproduced because it is connecting to our internal testing SSAS database. We cannot find an open SSAS data source online to provide a working reproduction. Hope that the point was made clear and sorry for the inconvenience.

We have made a reproduction video. Please refer attachment. Thank you.

And this is a video with the file before saving with API which is working as expected.

If you can share the backup of the database file [.abf] file then it will be very helpful for us to replicate the issue at our end.
If the data is confidential then you can create a case on the MySupport portal and share the file over there as it is completely confidential.

Thank you for sharing the file.
I have forwarded it to the developers and will let you know as soon as we get any update on this from their end.

The developers could not reproduce the problem using the given DEMOV6.abf.
    Here's the steps they followed:

1: Create a SSAS database "MultiDB"
2: Use DEMOV6.abf to restore "MultiDB"
3: The restore action is completed successfully.
4: Use restored data source to refresh pivot table

At last, they got an error that says Could not get data from an external data source. [screenshot 6.png]

Could you help to check if the backup file or my steps are correct?
