In my excel sheet, I have few cells whose format is set to Date - "<b>*m/d/yyyy</b>". Asterisk here represents that Date format responds to the changes in regional date and time settings that are specified for the operating system. For my OS, ShortDateFormat is set as M/d/yyyy (default value for en-US culture).
When I import this excel into Farpoint Spread, these Date cells are imported as GeneralCellType with FormatString = "MM/d/yyyy" and IsDateFormat = True. Shouldn't the FormatString be set to "M/d/yyyy" per my OS culture settings ?
Now in Excel, when I change the format of these Date cells to "m/d/yyyy" (without asterisk) and import again, GeneralCellType's FormatString is correctly set to "M/d/yyyy".
Can you please explain why GeneralCellType's formatString is not properly set when I import excel with "*m/d/yyyy" format ?
