Flickering when resizing a C1.Win.Ribbon.C1RibbonForm

The new C1RibbonForm in “C1.Win.Ribbon.4.5.2” dll flickers when redrawing.

See attached sample (originally created for another support question): when resizing the form, there is a lot of flickering and sometimes the background behind the ribbonform is partially visible instead of the ribbon.

This happens for me only when in a RDP session (due to home office). On my real machine, I do not see flickering. But as our app is also installed in terminalserver enviroments, this might happen for our customers too - currently we still use the old C1Ribbon.

I noticed the same when resizing a C1FlexViewer which I believe uses the new ribbon.

Is there an update regarding this issue. In my case, the C1Ribbon, both old and new, are flickering when used in its minimized state. The wordpad app in the Component One samples does this.

    Hi Wolfgang,

The issue is on the to-do list of the dev team. The dev team needs some time to research and work on this issue as it is not an easy fix and will need changes in the resize logic.

We will update you as soon as we have any information from the dev team.

    Any updates?

Attached is a reworked example, using a project with target frameworks Net 4.8 and .NET6 - the issue happens for both of them.

I’m also having serious flickering issues with a C1BackstageVIew whenever I resize. Any suggestions for how to prevent it? I have tried using SuspendLayout and ResumeLayout in the OnResizeBegin and OnResizeEnd of my form, but no such luck.

    Hi Andrew,

We could also see the flickering issue when resizing the Form with BackstageView open. Unfortunately, there is no workaround for this behavior currently. We have reported the observations to the development team for further investigation and will let you know the updates as soon as possible.

Is this addressed in 2023v2? I have looked at the release notes but I can’t tell.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Yesterday I downloaded 2023v2 and put the C1Ribbon.dll in our project to test. I didn’t see any difference in performance with respect to flickering. It’s possible that I didn’t properly update all the components when I tested it out. Please let me know if it is expected to have been fixed in 2023v2

    Hi,

The flickering issue with the BackstageView reported in (https://developer.mescius.com/forums/winforms-edition/flickering-when-resizing-a-c1-win-ribbon-c1ribbonform#66890) has been fixed in the latest 2023v3(636) hotfix release. You can either update to the latest version using ComponentOneControlPanel or directly install the latest packages from NuGet.

    Kind Regards,

    Kartik

The flickering with my initial sample still occurs. I updated the sample to use recent .NET6 nuget packages:
