What's wrong with FlexReport

So far, GrapeCity has been of no help on this so I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced this.

I have a C1Report converted to FlexReport. Simple report: Page heading, two breaks, detail, summary at the end. (Actually, this is true of any report that has more than 2 or 3 pages of data.)

SQL datasource has 2200 records. Report takes over 2 minutes to render BOTH in the target software AND the FlexReport designer.

To trouble shoot I went to the extent of preparing a data table containing nothing but the target data in a local SQL database. Nothing changed.

I then removed EVERYTHING from the report except the detail section. Nothing changed.

As a last resort, I created a new FlexReport with the same data source and voila’ all 54 pages came back in a flash.

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a work around? It’s simply not conceivable that I have the time or the customer has the $ to re-create all of these reports that don’t run any more.

    More info.

I modified the new report, copying elements from original:

    1. Copied page header, report runs fine.
    2. Created two groups and pasted fields from old report in Header and Footer sections. Report runs fine.
    3. Copied fields from Detail section of old report and pasted to new: back to rendering in 2+ minutes.
    4. I noticed that “TextField” has a “=” preceding the field name. So changed the Text property of each “Field” to include that. Didn’t help.

Conclusion: Clearly FlexReport has an issue with “Field(s)” and large data sets.

    Hi,

As discussed over the S1 case: http://supportone.componentone.com/casedetail/420292

This seems to be a bug that has been already reported to the developers and will let you know once we get any updates on this from the developer’s end.

    Internal Tracking ID: 420799
