PITTSBURGH, PA - May 1, 2013 – ComponentOne a division of GrapeCity, the largest component solution provider in the Microsoft Visual Studio Partner Ecosystem, today announced the release of Service Pack 1 (SP1) for ActiveReports 7. This release adds new features and fixes to the ActiveReports 7 release which, in July of 2012, introduced a new form-based page layout designer for reports. The designer generates documents such as invoices and insurance forms where pixel-perfect layout is paramount.
“The ActiveReports 7 SP1 release introduces the highly desired and much awaited WPF Report Viewer and a new PDF/A export option for report archiving,” said Scott Willeke, product manager at ComponentOne. “The PDF/A export option is becoming the de-facto standard for digital storage and the archiving of electronic documents and we are excited to present this option to ActiveReports users,” said Willeke.
The ActiveReports WPF Report Viewer enables developers to now design, display, and print the reports in their native WPF applications. Willeke shared that, “The ActiveReports WPF Viewer offers a rich and flexible UI for report preview and printing. This extensive API makes it simple and offers an easy coding experience with both POCO and WPF libraries.”
The new PDF/A export option for reports enables a developer to take advantage of online storage and collaboration of report documents. PDF/A is an ISO-standardized version of the Portable Document Format (PDF).
This release also focuses on making the migration of reports from previous versions of ActiveReports (v6.0, v3.0, v2.0 and v1.0) to ActiveReports 7 seamless and simple. “This enables for a quick transition to ActiveReports 7 from previous versions for existing developers, and they will be able to have their upgraded reports up and running in no time,” explained Willeke.
The What's New section of the ActiveReports 7 SP1 product page provides additional details on the new features included in this release.
