What's New in ActiveReports.NET v15

Pittsburgh, PA – December 21st, 2020 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce ActiveReports. NET v15. In this final release of 2020, users will receive everything they need to create rich reports, such as user-friendly report designers, feature-packed controls and components, a robust backend reporting engine, and much more. ActiveReports v15 upgrades developers' design toolkit for intuitive and dynamic reports.

With the release of .NET 5 in November 2020, the ActiveReports. NET team added support for Microsoft’s new technology in the v15 release. To get started with ActiveReports on .NET 5, users will need Visual Studio 16.8 or later to run the ActiveReports installer. Once the necessary tools are installed and integrated with Visual Studio 2019, they can either create a new application or upgrade an existing application to .NET 5. To create a new application with ActiveReports, start a new blank project or use one of the many pre-built project templates ActiveReports provides. To learn more about .NET 5 support in ActiveReports. NET, read the release blog.

The ActiveReports. NET v15 release introduces many new features and enhancements in the End-User Report Designer for web. For instance, creating a WYSIWYG tabular report in the End-User Report Designer has been dramatically simplified – you can now create a table from a data set by dragging it to the design surface. This feature saves time and effort because there is no need to drop a table from the toolbox, add columns, and assign a data field to each column. Another significant new feature allows technical and non-technical users to re-arrange table columns at runtime. Now it’s much simpler to re-arrange columns by dragging them to the desired position. To learn more about the new table enhancements, visit the release blog.

In this release, the ActiveReports. NET team has also improved the installation process. First, the installer is now a much smaller executable that determines which files are needed for the installation and provides more control over where they are installed. Second, the executable offers the option to join the GrapeCity Customer Experience Program, which sends the team specific information about GrapeCity’s controls and libraries to help improve product usability and quality. No personal information or application-specific information is collected. To learn more about the new installer and the GrapeCity Customer Experience Program, read the release blog.
