What's New in GrapeCity Documents v4.2

Pittsburgh, PA – Aug 22nd, 2021 - GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce the GrapeCity Documents v4.2 release. The new v4.2 feature set allows users to solve complex business problems, such as programmatically adding layers in PDFs, generating secure PDFs with complex encryption algorithms, and adding stamps to PDFs in the JavaScript PDF Viewer. Developers will also find support for adding dynamic array formulas to Excel workbooks, generating Word reports with data from multiple data sources, and much more. The GrapeCity Documents API supports features that have no dependency on Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Word.

The GrapeCity Documents for PDf (GcPdf) API introduces new additions that enable developers to programmatically add content in separate layers in PDF documents. Developers can associate any PDF content (whether it’s part of the content stream, FormXObject, annotation, or a PDF document) with layers. This association will help accommodate different content layers within a single PDF document that needs to be generated on the fly, such as CAD drawings, layered artwork, maps, and multi-language documents. See the full release to learn more about the new features and enhancements in GcPdf.

GrapeCity Documents for PDF Viewer (GcPdfViewer) now supports adding predefined or custom stamps to a PDF document. A document stamp can authenticate documents with a personal or business signature, emblem, or logo. Users can now add in-built stamps to web applications in the JavaScript-based GcPdfViewer. This feature prevents JavaScript developers from writing custom code to add in-built stamps to the viewer. The stamps would be available by default in the Annotation Editor. In addition, developers can also remove these in-built stamps and add custom ones on the client-side or the server-side. To learn more about the latest updates to GcPdfViewer, visit the website.

GrapeCity Documents for Word (GcWord) now supports binding Word Report Templates with data from multiple data sources. Due to how data is stored or retrieved from various data sources in complex business applications, it can be challenging for developers to generate Word documents that combine data from multiple sources, especially considering Microsoft Word does not support this function. Users can now bind Word Report Templates to single or numerous JSON data sources. This function makes it easier for developers to prepare Word Templates and secure the data fields directly with JSON data sources without converting them to other objects. In addition, JSON is the most widely used data format for data interchange on the web. To learn more about what’s new in GcWord, see the full release.

GrapeCity Documents for Excel (GcExcel) adds extensive support for adding dynamic array formulas to Excel files through code. Developers can generate Excel files programmatically and add these formulas to the Excel workbook. These formulas are used to create a list of unique values (remove duplicates), sort lists, output a filtered range of data, and much more and require no dependency on Microsoft Excel. "GrapeCity Documents v4.2 introduces a whole set of new features to support full document workflows end-to-end," said Product Manager Shilpa Sharma. “We have also enhanced our Word to PDF export in GcWord by including shape and textbox support on PDF export, features that are commonly used in Word documents. The new release also introduces new Calc Engine functions in GcExcel to help developers use more Excel functions programmatically in their spreadsheets."
