What's New in SpreadJS v14

Pittsburgh, PA – November 20, 2020 GrapeCity, a global provider of award-winning enterprise software development tools, is pleased to announce the SpreadJS v14 software release. The highlights of SpreadJS v14 include the arrival of a new designer, cell interactions, calculation enhancements, and much more. These features expand developers’ capabilities within their JavaScript applications when building high-performance enterprise spreadsheets. SpreadJS v14 is now available as an upgrade for existing customers and as a download for new customers on our website.

The new designer is the implementation of an Excel-like user interface with SpreadJS. The main features include a ribbon, status bar, formula bar, context menus, and associated dialogs. With the latest release, the designer now contains “add” or “remove” buttons for tabs in the ribbon, the option to change styling, the ability to change the functionality of different buttons, and custom dialogs. Since many customers have requested a design interface to implement in their applications, the SpreadJS team made the designer more flexible by componentizing it. To learn more about the designer and how to download, read the full release.

Many new features in SpreadJS v14 focus on user interaction with cells. These features include incremental loading, accessibility support, multi-column picker, and several more. With incremental loading, performance improves when working with large amounts of data. Now that SpreadJS includes accessibility support, compatibility with screen readers, and ADA compliance is available for customers that need it in their enterprise applications. A new drop-down type, Multi-Column Picker, allows developers to specify a data source and column information and then set the style. To learn more about the many cell interaction features, read the full release.

SpreadJS v14 features an updated calculation engine with new functions and enhanced features. With the new OBJECT function, users define an Object from a set of property names and expressions. Objects can be used for data binding to other cells or as RangeCellType or RANGEBLOCK parameters. The PROPERTY function allows developers to parse an object by its properties. Users can inspect object properties or use them in the Multi-Column Picker to parse the returned object into the corresponding property values with this function.
