    Cut or Copy Cell Ranges and Shapes
    In This Topic

    Spread for Winforms provides users with the ability to cut or copy a cell or a range of cells and shapes from a specific area and paste it into another area within the same worksheet or a different worksheet.

    While performing the cut or copy operations in the spreadsheet, after users press the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + C", an animation rectangle will be displayed to indicate the source of the copied cell range just like in Excel.

    Note: Copying from Spread to Excel is not supported. In other words, copying cell content and styles from Excel to Spread control is supported but users can't cut or copy data from Spread control to Excel.

    Enable Clipboard Operations

    The rich clipboard is not enabled by default and hence the rich clipboard operations (like cut, copy, paste) cannot be done unless users manually turn it on by using the following code:

    C#
    Copy Code
    // Enable the rich clipboard
    fpSpread1.Features.RichClipboard = true;

    Note: The following points must be kept in mind while enabling the rich clipboard in the spreadsheet.

    • The RichClipboard works in flat style mode only. In order to enable RichClipboard, user must also make sure that FpSpread.LegacyBehaviors doesn't contain LegacyBehaviors.Style.
    • Since Excel doesn't support clipboard settings on some features like table or color scales etc., copying such data from Excel is not supported.

    Cut or Copy Cell Ranges and Shapes

    While copying cell ranges in the spreadsheet, users can store cell values as text or CVS.

    While copying shapes in the spreadsheet, users can copy and paste shapes between Spread and Excel along with the following operations:

    Working With Paste Options

    After executing the cut or copy operations, users can choose from multiple paste options and also combine different paste options just like in Excel.

    Note: The following points must be kept in mind while working with range operations in Spread for Winforms:

    • Copying from Spread to Excel is not supported.
    • The cut and copy feature supports a single range only.
    • Users can copy/paste ranges that contain Free Floating shapes.
    • Users can't repeat the values on pasting like in Excel.
    • Each Spread control will have its own UndoManager. Users can undo an action, which is executed in the current Spread only.
    • The copy feature of Excel that allows customization of the copied defined name is not supported yet.
