If you're updating to 2011 v2, which we just released a couple weeks ago, you will probably download and install the latest setup from our website. But did you know there's a faster and easier way to update your ComponentOne controls? ComponentOne Studio Live (C1Live) is an update utility that searches and installs the latest version of ComponentOne assemblies. C1Live gets just the control assemblies (.dll) from a special server and the associated XML documentation files which contain property descriptions for Visual Studio. C1Live is much faster than downloading and running the full setups because it does not include a few things such as samples and toolbox installations. It's intended for experienced users who do not need to update these extra things with every update. It's important to note that C1Live does not allow you to update something that is not already installed. You can use C1Live with your existing ComponentOne's WinForms, ASP.NET, WPF, CF and iPhone products (the latest version now supports Silverlight too). Launch C1Live from your Start Menu. Check to see if you have the latest version installed and the last version available for your license. Quickly update any product with the click of a button. C1Live looks at your installed licenses so it is smart enough to get the latest version you're eligible for. Also, in a previous blog post I talked about updating your project's license information using the C1ProjectUpdater utility. With C1Live and C1ProjectUpdater updating to the latest version can't be any easier!
