Images printing as black boxes

Images on our reports (version 9) have printed fine for years, but now a certain configuration prints images as black boxes. If the application resides on a Windows 2012 box and you remote into it from a Mac, the print preview looks fine, but printing makes the images appear as black boxes. How can this be avoided?

[activereports_archive]I’m sorry I couldn’t reproduce the behavior at my end. I tried by remotely accessing a Win 2012 server from a Mac and printing the reports with Images (Section & Page) and the images appeared fine. I’ve attached the printed xps documents for your reference. I created an app on my development machine and then deployed it on the Win 2012. Let me know if I’m missing anything. It’ll be helpful if you could send across your application for me to test.

    Thanks[/activereports_archive]

We found more info. When you’re about to print, if you go to the printer’s properties and set it to color, the black box is printed. But if you set it to black and white, it doesn’t print the black box.

[activereports_archive]I still couldn’t replicate the issue on changing the Printer properties to Color. I have attached the images of the print outs for both Section & Page Report and the application as well. I tried by publishing the application on a Win2012 server and remotely accessing it from a Mac and then printing the reports.

Would request you to send across your report and application so that I can reproduce the issue and proceed further.

    Thanks[/activereports_archive]

We thought this problem had gone away when we upgraded from version 9 to 11, but found some customers have continually had this problem. We’ve determined another element that adds to it, which is they (and we from testing) get the black box if the image file type is not GIF.

My understanding is that AR reports, once they embed an image, convert it to a bitmap, but via different images, we created an instance where it prints with a black box, and another where it doesn’t. (I thought you might only need the rpx files, but I also included the images embedded into each.)

    To recap…

The problem exists if the application resides on a Windows 2012 box and you remote into it from a Mac and the image is not GIF. The print preview looks fine, but when printing (and setting the printer’s properties to color) the image on the printout appears as a black box.
