  I have a column that I want to show the difference as a sub-total (and a grand total of the differences as well). Both numbers are > 0 so I want to basically subtract one from the other as a grand total.

  Is this possible?

  Sorry to mention that I have not understood your query clearly. Could you please explain in detail? What I understood from this, you want to show the difference of subtotal of two fields of database and at the last, you want to show the grand total of differences.
