Hi. I’m trying to install AR 18 and getting the error “Loading Visual Studio Extension failed. Please check your Internet connection.” This happens after “Removing Shortcuts”

I’m definitely online, and while I know antivirus blocked it in one case, the log in this case doesn’t seem to be.

Is there a log file of the install so I can see what exactly it’s failing on? The steps for how to create this for older versions seem to rely on an MSI install and I’m not sure they work with 18’s .exe installer.

    Thanks.

    Hi Chris,

Please use the attached link to install ActiveReports 18: Download

Also, we observed that there is an issue while installing ActiveReports 18, if you are working with ActiveReports 17 on your system. This issue occurs because the ActiveReports 17 Visual Studio integration interferes with the ActiveReports 18 Visual Studio integration at the time of installation.

To fix this issue, you’ll need to uninstall the ActiveReports 17 Visual Studio integration or ActiveReports 17 itself. After which, the installation of ActiveReports 18 should go seamlessly.

P.S., the issue has also been fixed in the latest release and is going through final checks before its release in a few days.

My 18 is failing to install too. Just uninstalled 17, and 18 is still failing.

    Hi John,

Could you please try installing the latest version of ActiveReports 18 (18.0.0.1155) from here Download Version History?

If the issue persists, please try unchecking the VisualStudio integration checkboxes at the time of installing ActiveReports 18, after installation, you can manually install the integration from the following path ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\GrapeCity\ActiveReports 18\VisualStudio’.

    Regards,

I had finally figured out that the VS Extension was still installed despite uninstalling the product. Once I uninstalled the AR17 Extension from within VS, I was able to install AR18.
