Is ActiveReports.NET being phased out?

We rely very heavily on Section Reports in Winforms, as we do a crazy amount of code behind the scenes with just about every component. (You’ve no idea–it’s insane.)

However, it seems every time we upgrade (not just major, but also minor updates) that something breaks and I have to open a new private case. And often, it doesn’t do the same for you, so I need to create a working model, which is very time intensive. Then I either get a fix, workaround, or have to wait on your development team for a new build.

I realize it’s inevitable at times, but it seems more common in the past 6-12 months, making us now hold our breath every time we upgrade, as fixing one issue seems to create yet another “surprise.”

Now don’t get me wrong–we really appreciate your great support staff helping us through the issues (though we’ve at least 1 now outside their control, as it’s in the hands of your development team) but it’s all starting to make us nervous.

So we have to ask–is ActiveReports.NET being phased out? Are we in trouble at some point fairly soon?

    Hello,

From ActiveReports 14, we did a lot of changes in code to support the .Net Core/ .Net 5 that’s why you are facing the issue. Also, we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

We supports the ActiveReports .Net and there will many new feature will be included in near future in ActiveReports .Net.

    Hope it clarifies.

    Thanks,

    Mohit

Good to know. Even so, our own code won’t be able to move to .Net Core anytime soon. Is it a problem if we remain on the .Net framework for a few years if we want to keep using ActiveReports.NET?

No, there is no problem. We will support the .Net framework in the AR.

    Thanks,

    Mohit
